Otherworld Ensemble is a joint project lead by Heikki "Mike" Koskinen and Finnish American Rent Romus exploring the music of jazz and improvisation inspired by the Arctic diaspora, and utilizes elements embedded structurally in ways that abstractly reference the Northern thematic. Northern Fire is an exploration in improvisation featuring international Finnish music iconoclasts, bassist Teppo Hauta-aho, and saxophonist Mikko Innanen as well as guest performer accordion virtuoso Veli Kujala. The music was recorded during a live session at Kaapelitehdas (The Cable Factory) in the heart of Helsinki, Finland in May of 2017.
