Guitarist, composer, producer, and radio host, David Margam is an iconic figure in smooth jazz and
contemporary music. Born in Granada, Spain, he released his debut album Immune in 2023, a
work that encapsulates more than 30 years of musical experience. This album blends genres such
as funk, smooth jazz, bossa, gospel, and R&B, featuring collaborations with renowned international
musicians, including J. Michaels, Jimmy ?stbygaard, Carlos Camilo, Lee Jones, Gianni Vancini, and
Spanish Rosa Lazar, María Romero, and Sergio Hidalgo, among others.
With eleven tracks produced by renowned producers from Europe and the United States, Immune
is a rich musical experience filled with cultural diversity and emotion, conceived during the 2020
pandemic. Each song reflects a sonic journey infused with tropical and urban nuances, delivering
melodies that resonate deeply and uplift the spirit. This album achieved significant recognition on
international charts, such as the UK Soul Chart Breakers and the SmoothJazz.com TOP 100,
cementing Margam’s reputation as a leading artist in the scene.
David Margam is also recognized as a founding member of Funkdación, Spain's most iconic funk
band, with which he has released seven albums since 1995. Additionally, he is the creator of the
MARHID project alongside pianist and producer Sergio Hidalgo, whose single Sensibility won an
award at the 9th Annual OWMR Awards in the UK. His international collaborations and innovative
approach have established him as one of the most influential guitarists of the new smooth jazz
generation.
As the creator and host of Funkmania Radio, Margam celebrates and promotes the sounds of funk,
smooth jazz, and R&B. This project, transformed into a radio station in 2021, has been running for
25 years and earned him the title of Smooth Jazz Ambassador in Spain by the international platform
Smooth Jazz Universe.
David Margam is currently working on his next album, set to be released in the spring of 2025. This
new project will feature collaborations with leading contemporary artists, such as Miami
saxophonists Lee Jones and Jorge Pinelo, Cuban pianist Roberto Vazquez, Austrian producer and
guitarist Horst Lippitsch, Italian pianist and producer Diego Calcagno, and Chicago based producer
and guitarist John Carey. Along with Spanish Andrés García and Sergio Hidalgo, among others,
the album promises to be an exciting continuation of his musical journey, spreading his passion from
Granada to the world and solidifying his position as one of the most prominent figures in the
international music scene.
