About Me

Gayle Price has distinguished herself as a musician with great versatility, control, and insight. As the youngest daughter of the ��Original Rock & Roll Mama�� and local blues and jazz performer the late Priscilla Bowman, she has the same passion of touching people��s spirit that exudes style, class, and uniqueness. As a vocalist, Gayle has been performing since the age of 5 beginning in the church. Coming into her- own for the past couple of years has afforded her to perform at various events/functions; ? Manager & Leader singer Pure Sweetness Entertainment Band 2018 ? National Anthem consistently for various organizations including the KC Royals, Planet Rock Drill team Competition, Legends Field from 2014 on. ? Winning ��Best in Show�� in the ArtsKC Art at Work Competition, Gem Theatre 2014 ? Soloist The 8th Annual Research Block Party 2015 ? Soloist Trends Care Foundations Trendsetters Night of Excellence, Gem Theatre 2016 ? Soloist Omega Founders Day event, UMKC 2016 ? Grand prize winner of Truman��s Got Talent, Truman Med Center 2017 ? Gospel Stage Play ��Why Me�� cast member, Kansas City, MO 2019 ? Lead singer for the 51% Blues Band, KCMO 2017 ? Soloist Annual TMC White Coat Gala, 2018 & 2019 ? Entertainment for the Annual EDC Cornerstone event in 2021 ? Ensemble cast member for the stage play The Color Purple at the Warwick to a sold out crowd nightly, 2022. These are just a few of her accomplishment to date. Gayle is frequently requested to use her vocal talent to sing at churches, funerals, weddings, graduation and anniversary parties. Her passion for performing is infectious and can be felt by all who get the privilege to experience it. Gayle wants to continue using her talent as well as broadening her spectrum of music to allow her to use her voice in a diverse venue and setting.

My Jazz Story

Jazz, to me, has always been more than a genre of music. It is a language of life itself��a vibrant conversation that transcends time, culture, and emotion. Growing up with a mother like Priscilla Bowman, who graced the world with her soulful voice and timeless contributions to jazz and blues, I have always felt an intimate connection to this evocative art form. It is not merely music; it is memory, heritage, and an enduring love affair with rhythm and soul. love jazz because... Priscilla Bowman was not just an artist; she was a pioneer in her own right, breaking barriers and standing as an icon during a time when jazz and blues were not merely musical genres but vehicles for social change. Her collaborations with Jay McShann and her contributions to jazz history brought her into the limelight, but to me, she was always Mom�� an extraordinary figure whose music shaped my world. She introduced me to the nuances of jazz��the swing, the bebop, the bluesy undertone that often accompanied her melodies. Jazz became a familial heirloom, handed down not through words but through rhythms and harmonies. I remember sitting by her side, listening to her hum tunes before they were recorded into history. It wasn��t about fame or success. For her, jazz was a way of expressing the inexpressible��a bridge between her soul and the world. Jazz means connection. It connects me to my mother, to history, and to those fleeting moments when music transcends the physical and becomes pure emotion. It is a sacred space where I can feel her presence and hear her voice, even years after her songs first graced the airwaves.
