Paulo Almeida
Paulo Almeida is a Brazilian drummer, percussionist, composer and an important reference in the instrumental music scene in his country. He is going to his 5th authorial album and as a drummer he has a unique way of expressing himself through melodic creation, seeking different timbres with a strong Afro-Brazilian rhythmic influence.
He began his musical studies in Sa?o Paulo state and later, a long education at the Conservatory of Tatui?, where he studied the techniques of classical and popular music and also participated in several festivals as a student
In 2019/2020 Almeida has participated in the Focus Year Band program led by Wolfgang Muthspiel in Basel and with this experience he had the chance of sharing stages and studying with great musicians.
?As an instrumentalist, he has performed at important festivals and jazz clubs around the world and he has also performed with renowned artists such as Hermeto Pascoal, Dhafer Youssef, Guillermo Klein, Lionel Loueke, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Jorge Rossy, Anat Cohen, Ralph Alessi, Filo? Machado and Leny Andrade.
Paulo works as a teacher at the Jazz Campus University in Basel Switzerland and also participates in many other projects across Europe.
