Peggy Morris
The Morrises spent more than a decade touring with various groups throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe before returning to Cleveland where Morris Code was created out of a burning desire to write, record and perform their own music.
The couple's efforts laid the groundwork for their '96 release, "On My Way Home." In 1998 the pair teamed with drummer Chris Ceja and keyboardist/producer Aaron Lindsey to create Morris Code's second 11-song CD, "Just For You." Their third CD, "Code a la Mode", was released in July of 2002 and one of the stand out tracks involved their first internet collaboration with a superb keyboardist, Mathias Claus from Germany. In less than a year Morris Code released their fourth CD "Nothin' But A Daydream". Mathias also appears on this new release and he also arranged for Morris Code's first European tour this past summer in Germany where he performed live with the group!
Here's a sample of what some critics have been saying about "The Code":
"Groove with Soul with a fantastic singer and multinstrumentalist in front and a versatile rhythm section with live qualities and the grooves definetly in the pocket." First View by HBH http://www.smooth-jazz.de ____________________________________
"Morris Code has a strong, distinctive sound and energy rooted in jazz fusion and funk. Grabbing your attention on the first note, their music is just plain fun..... "Just for You" is a fantastic release!" Lois J.Roe for "Jazz Exodus" http://www.thejazznation.com/ ____________________________________
"Their sound is part funky, part playful, part contemplative - and always engaging. Listen to the tracks, and you can hear the joy they bring to their playing. This is one "Code" that everyone should know." Kenneth Pearson, Jazzman Online http://www.jazzmanonline.net/reviews4.asp ____________________________________
"Peggy, her husband Bob, and drummer Chris Ceja create some of the hottest, sexiest jazz I've heard in a while. I was blown away by Peggy's sax wailing, reminding me of David Sanborn, Candy Dulfer, Bill Bousfield of 3 Hole Punch and Jay Beckenstein of Spyro Gyra."
