Vincent Stephen-Ong
Studies continued at the McGill Conservatory and later McGill's Music Faculty Programme, studying jazz saxophone. In 2003, he studied privately with internationally-renowned jazz pianist Jason Moran. In 2005-2006, he was accepted for the "Jeunes Volontaires" grant programme for the production of a full-length debut recording. In 2006, his group, the Stephen-Ong/Eliosoff Quartet advanced to the semi-finals of the Jazz en Rafale contest. Their debut recording, "Winding Path", was released in 2008 and features a diverse yet grounded mix of passionate boundary-pushing original music. In 2009, his ensemble the Certified Organic Jazz Quartet performed as a finalist in Le Grand Prix de Jazz General Motors and Prix ?toiles Galaxie de Radio-Canada at the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
Today, Vincent's focus lies in his teaching as well as his original and sideman projects, including Certified Organic Jazz Quartet and Kalmunity Vibe Collective.
