Orion White

Born:
Orion White is an Indigenous (Nez Perce and Ottawa of Oklahoma) Baritone Saxophone specialist and music educator based in Portland, OR bringing together jazz, rock, house, and funk sensibilities to create a style of playing all his own.
Orion earned his undergraduate degree at the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho and soon became a founding member of the Julia Keefe Indigenous Big Band as well as joined No Soap, Radio, a jazz-funk-metal-whatever-feels-right-fusion group.
Orion's career may just be starting but it has already taken him to massive stages, including the Kennedy Center and the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, festivals such as the Monterey Jazz Festival and Juneau Blues and Classics, and has allowed him the chance to rub elbows with masters of the craft, such as Marc Carry and Esperanza Spalding.

So this is the part where ::insert famous instrument company or famous musician:: is gonna slog through some paint by numbers B.S. about where I went to school and who I studied with...and we all have to pretend like it still matters in 2025 (or really, ever?)
Nah.

Anders Svanoe

Born:
Playing mainly the baritone, but also the soprano, alto, tenor saxophones, Anders got his start in music taking piano lessons, singing in church choirs and playing saxophone in the public school band. In 1991 Anders graduated from Luther College and in 1994 he completed his Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In the mid 1990s Anders studied with Frank Morgan while Frank lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Frank taught me everything about the saxophone, especially the importance of sound. Another key component to Anders’ post-graduate education was his meetings with multi-instrumentalist and composer Roscoe Mitchell. Since 2001 Anders has played and recorded with Roscoe in various contexts ranging from duos to large ensembles.

Aaron Liddard

Born:
Born and raised in rural Hertfordshire, the son of liberal and creative parents, Aaron Liddard’s initial foray in to the world of music came via one of the most eccentric of instruments, the tuba. From this unusual starting point and via brief dalliances with both the piano and guitar, he settled on the saxophone, discovering a natural affinity with his chosen instrument that would influence his existence to the present day, taking him on a truly varied and fascinating voyage of discovery. ??
Receiving school music lessons from the classical composer Nicholas Sackman and renowned choral director Dr Charlie Beale provided an initial enthusiasm, but it was Liddard’s discovery of the Buntingford Jazz Club that truly ignited a spark, absorbing the intricate and dexterous guitar playing of Jim Mullen and the mellifluous tones of Alan Skidmore on sax. It was at this club that Liddard improvised for the very first time, in front of his newly discovered heroes.
