Diana Leoport

Born: October 2, 1997

Diana Leoport is a Mexican jazz vocalist, songwriter, and performance artist with over a decade of training and experience on the national and international jazz scene. Her artistry blends a refined jazz language with contemporary influences, poetic storytelling, and an emotional stage presence that has captivated audiences in Mexico and abroad.

Leoport’s development as a jazz artist has been deeply shaped by formal training and intensive residencies with world-class musicians. In 2024, she was selected for the prestigious Antonio Sánchez Jazz Residency at the Centro Nacional de las Artes in Mexico City, where she trained with Sánchez, Thana Alexa, Fabián Almazán, Ben Wendel, Nir Felder, and Linda May Han Oh. She has also studied at Barcelona’s Liceu Conservatori, participating in masterclasses with Aaron Parks, Joel Ross, and Joey Calderazzo, and at Festival Jazzuv, learning from Miguel Zenón, Danilo Pérez, and Henry Cole. Her academic background includes studies at the Escuela Superior de Música (CDMX) and the Centro Morelense de las Artes (CEMA).

Rafael Moreno

Born: February 1, 1983

Rafael Enrique Moreno Vega was born on February 1, 1983, in Panama City. He is the son of Rafael E. Moreno Pino and Elizabeth P. Vega de Moreno. A singer and songwriter, at the age of 5, he was already singing, but it was at the age of 8 that he began doing it more regularly at family parties, performing a repertoire of boleros, waltzes, and pasillos by artists such as Julio Jaramillo, Daniel Santos, Orlando Contreras, and others from the old guard that his parents and grandparents used to listen to.

At 17, he learned to play his first guitar chords with teacher Lucía Dorelis Pérez, although as a child, despite efforts by his uncle L. Raúl Moreno and his cousin Yira Castro to teach him, he did not like the instrument. During that time, he composed his first songs. That same year, 2000, he was hired for the first time by Professor Gilberto Campos and his group Rumba 5. A shy Rafael only sang the song "Conciencia" by composer Omar Alfanno twice during the night, as it was the only salsa song he knew.

Roy Ben Bashat

Born: April 7, 2000

Guitarist, composer, and songwriter born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel. Roy Ben Bashat was recognized as a prodigy from a young age and was accepted into the jazz music department at the prestigious Thelma Yelin school for the arts. During high school, he played with renowned jazz artists in Israel and performed at local venues and festivals. In 2017, he was granted a full schoarship from Berklee College of Music, and relocated to Boston in 2018. 

Roy Ben Bashat graduated from Berklee College of Music and moved to Brooklyn, NY in 2022. Shortly after moving to NYC, Ben Bashat started playing with some of the Jazz leaders in the city, including Luis Perdomo, Eric McPherson, Lex Korten, Noah Preminger, among others. 

Joan Watson-Jones

Born: September 24, 1974

The Artistry of Joan Watson-Jones

Jazz is a storytelling art, and vocalist/lyricist/composer Joan Watson-Jones, who calls Derry, New Hampshire and New York City home, has a story to tell.

Armed with a master’s degree in music education from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Watson-Jones had a long and successful teaching career in The Bronx and in New England. But the jazz seed had been growing in her ever since she was a child in Harlem, where she took piano and tap lessons at the age of four. Later, she learned to play guitar and drums, and was coached and mentored by the late singer Joyce Bryant.

Tetel Di Babuya

Tetel Di Babuya (teteldibabuya.com) is a Jazz-influenced Brazilian singer-songwriter and violinist. She performs and composes in both English and Portuguese, creating a compelling sound that blends (and stirs) Jazz, Blues, Bossa Nova and Standards, old and new. As an accomplished professional violinist, Tetel Di Babuya has played with some of the most renowned orchestras in Brazil, and in her solo career, audiences are drawn to her passionate and entertaining live performances. Canadian vocalist Kari van der Kloot presents an exciting new voice on the horizon. Living somewhere in the space between jazz and folk, Kari’s compositions fit seamlessly into a tradition of great Canadian singer-songwriters, such as Joni Mitchell, while still honoring her roots in jazz music.

The current iteration of the Kari van der Kloot Quintet features a stellar cast of New York based musicians, including Canadian violinist Lisanne Tremblay, Canadian pianist Jamie Reynolds, bassist Gary Wang and drummer Nathan Ellman-Bell. The live show keeps the listeners on their toes, from full-on intricately arranged ensemble playing, to four-part vocal harmonies and intimate dialogues between the voice and violin. Dahlia Dumont, leader of The Blue Dahlia: vocals, ukulele-player, singer-songwriter.
