Nashland is the fifth full-length release from award-winning Canadian jazz trumpeter and composer Mike Field. Known for his energetic sound and cinematic compositions, Field delivers a dynamic seven-track album inspired by his global travels and life experiences. The project features only his core quintet, capturing the energy and spontaneity of their live performances—no added instruments or overdubs. Every track tells a story: ? Mud Dance was inspired by getting lost in rural Hungary. ? Pepino and the Engineer and Dark Age Detour draw from Field’s time in Italy. ? Traffic Police recalls wild driving across the Dominican Republic. ? Chicken, Cigars and Leche channels the rhythm of Little Havana in Miami. ? Ballad of Chet Baker pays tribute to the legendary jazz trumpeter. ? Bad Lessons (released as a single in 2024) is based on an unconventional trumpet lesson with a famous but difficult teacher.
