As a Japanese-born jazz professional who has built a career both in the U.S. and Japan, I understand the unique balancing act artists face. JazzPacific is honored to partner with Jazz-Con to give musicians the insights, tools, and connections they need to thrive on both sides of the Pacific.

Jazz-Con 2025 today announced that JazzPacific, the nonprofit dedicated to fostering jazz connections across the U.S. and Pacific territories, will serve as the Presenting Partner for the conference’s featured cross-border career session, Landing the Gig: Building a Jazz Career in and Beyond Japan. This timely discussion will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (EST-US) as part of Jazz-Con’s fully virtual program.
The session will explore how native Japanese jazz musicians living abroad sustain vibrant careers at home while building international profiles. Topics will include touring Japan from overseas, adapting to diverse venue cultures, maintaining media and fan engagement across continents, and navigating the business logistics of a split-market career.
“Japan has one of the most passionate jazz audiences in the world, and yet the challenges of bridging home and international markets are complex,” said
