Phish at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
ByJust when it felt like it couldn't get any better, night two somehow topped it. It kicked off with a fired-up "Simple" to get everyone engaged and ready for what was to come. The rest of set one didn't disappoint: a deep, funky "Punch You in the Eye," a playful "Gumbo," a soaring "Reba," and a slamming "David Bowie" made it a first set for the ages. Then set two blasted offa monster "Tweezer," a "Crosseyed" dance party, and a gloriously funky "You Enjoy Myself" to close it out. The band surprised us by skipping "Tweezer Reprise," instead wrapping up the night with some beautiful, reflective moments like a dreamy "Lonely Trip" and a heartfelt "Wading in the Velvet Sea." Of course, they couldn't leave without a high-energy "First Tube" encore.
