Top selling 20-year old Concord Records pop/jazz artist Peter Cincotti makes his Lincoln Center debut at Alice Tully Hall on Monday and Tuesday evenings, February 2-3. Shortly after this appearance, the youngster will head to the studio to record another CD and prepare for his cinematic debut in this summer’s blockbuster Spider-Man 2.

The success of Gotham’s poshiest jazz/cabaret room Feinstein’s has inspired veteran NY impresario Howard Stein to launch some competition. Stein, who has turned Palm Beach’s Au Bar into an international jet set watering hole, will open Le Jazz Au Bar at 41 East 58th St. in early February. Starting matters off on 2-3 will be Dee Dee Bridgewater followed by Marlena Shaw and the George Shearing trio. The new club will not be for listeners on a budget but if Feinstein’s is any indication there are lots of folks with deep pockets who want to hear their jazz in the same surroundings that Louis XIV listened to his chamber music.

After recording five CDs with a long standing collaborative team, chanteuse Tierney Sutton has struck a mother lode with a new Telarc release Dancing in the Dark. Sutton combines fine phrasing with emotional intensity in this tribute to Frank Sinatra. The record date is jam packed with instrumental supernumeraries including a full orchestra conducted by Sutton’s pianist Christian Jacob. Curiously, the best track is “Only the Lonely” where she sings accompanied only by the piano.
