About the Album
"8 Out" is barrelhouse jazz with some new age elements; specifically, the synth choir and Yamaha CS-60 pad with some production techniques Henry Hey learned while working with the electronic duo Empire of the Sun. The piano forte and 8 diads, or double stops, on the guitar play with out sounds, not out playing, to capture the discord of the current American moment. It's sonic. The song was titled about presidential term limits: 8 years or forever. Apropos, the cover art is a figure of 8 turned 90 degrees; i.e. an infinity symbol.
