For her first recording in five years, visionary British composer/pianist Claire Cope and her 11-piece band Ensemble C pay tribute to pioneering women with the powerful recording ��Every Journey.�� The uplifting track ��Isabel�� is named for Isabel Godin des Odonais, the first known woman to traverse the length of the Amazon River. Cope discovered Odonais story by reading Adventuresses, a book by writer and explorer Jacki Hill-Murphy that tells the stories of 18th and 19th-century female explorers. Odonais�� spirit is captured by Cope��s stellar writing and playing and features the rich musicianship of percussionist Jack McCarthy along with baritone saxophonist Rob Cope, trombonist Anoushka Nanguy, trumpeter Freddie Gavit, and captivating vocalist Brigitte Beraha.
