He has played on six Grammy-winning albums and had several nominations for his work with Steely Dan, Al Green, Michael Brecker, Nestor Torres and Maxwell. He is also endorsed by Latin Percussion, has been nominated three years running as a “Rising Star" in the percussion category of the Downbeat magazine critic's poll, and is a faculty member at New York University. After spending many years working in a myriad of contemporary genres, his debut album There Will Be A Day takes his talent into the territory of traditional and modern jazz.

The album begins with “Dedication," an appropriately titled tribute to his influences that includes samples of old recordings as well as some solo-percussion work. Songs like the title track “There Will Be A Day" and “The Moon Has Flown" fuse jazz sounds with Sadownick's Latin conga grooves to create a sound similar to that of HORACE SILVER or STAN GETZ. Despite the hints of Latin flavor, the record by and large stays outside of the typical Afro-Cuban and Brazilian paradigms, tending more towards the vibe of Modern Hard Bop. The percussion adds a whole new layer of syncopation and groove for the soloist to play with and is somewhat atypical of this format. The close of the record departs from this sound, ending with the haunting vocals of Morley backed solely by a steady percussion groove on “Steady.".

Sadownick's influence on the record is not limited to his role as a percussionist. He composed and arranged all but one of the pieces and even plays some JACO PASTORIOUS like fretless bass on “Urban Scene." He arranged these tunes for a large ensemble that includes:
