Un senso di ordine e precisione, di pertinenza linguistica agli schemi del bop e del post bop infondono in Going Home un carattere di immacolato rigore espressivo.

" data-original-title="" title="">Joey Calderazzo guida un efficace quanto affiatato trio, con il quale affronta brillanti medium swing ("Manfold"), intensi jazz waltz ("Why Me"), sequenze ben riuscite d'interazione corale tra i musicisti ("Legend") insieme a standard del repertorio musicale americano ("My Foolish Heart"). All'interno di questo gi�� ampio repertorio, trova spazio anche una traccia di solo piano ("Going Home"), che si fa apprezzare per la velata e intima dolcezza del tema e per gli effetti di nostalgica malinconia che produce.

Completano il quadro "Stars Feel on Alabama" -meno ispirato degli altri, pi�� ordinaro, senza alcuna volont�� di violare i principi della moderna classicit�� jazzistica -e "One Way" -un allegro con swing spumeggiante, monkianamente "sporco," e ritmicamente sinuoso. ? in "Mike's Song," un tema denso di suono, che si differenzia dal resto del repertorio per vivacit�� di temperamento, che Calderazzo fa sfoggio delle sue doti virtuosistiche sulla tastiera del pianoforte, caricando la musica—ad una velocit�� impressionante -di inesausta inventiva melodica.

Nell'insieme, il sound del trio �� compatto: sintatticamente risponde alle regole del post bop contemporaneo; e' ordinato senza essere accademico ed �� dotato di coinvolgente vitalit��.

Generosamente, il disco �� un aggregato di luminose pulsioni inventive che non hanno nulla di contenuto; anche se si muove all'interno di un sistema ampiamente cristallizzato, riesce ad essere deliziosamente fascinoso. Pur seguendo una corrente ampiamente battuta, Going Home brilla chiaramente di luce propria.
