Sun �� musicista dotato di grande talento ed altrettanta grande ambizione -soprattutto compositiva-come ben illustrato dai due doppi cd The Sustain of Memory (Endectomorph, 2019) e il suo ideale seguito The Depths of Memory, suddiviso come il precedente in tre lunghe suite e realizzato con il medesimo quintetto con protagonisti intercambiabili a seconda dei brani.

" From All This Stillness " �� suite suddivisa in sette brani dalla durata media intorno ai tre minuti, sette quadri sonori che mettono in mostra la sofisticata scrittura del leader e le dinamiche di un quintetto in grado di cambiare pelle con naturalezza passando da spigolose improvvisazioni a ipnotiche iterazioni ritmiche, fino a crepuscolari atmosfere. Nei tre lunghi brani di " Eponymous Circle ," seconda suite -ecco che compare la tromba di

" data-original-title="" title="">Adam O'Farrill e l'atmosfera si rasserena, la narrazione scorre fluida, la musica respira. Nessuna smanceria, s'intende, nessuna deriva bucolica semplicemente una musica che privilegia l'elemento melodico, comunque mai scontato.

" The Depths in Slow Motion " �� la terza e conclusiva suite suddivisa in nove brani di lunghezza variabile. Qui la musica diventa pi�� astratta e misteriosa, con improvvise nervature e spigolosit�� che sorprendono, i solisti hanno maggior libert�� d'azione e si lanciano in avventurose esplorazioni sonore. Nell'arco dei due cd il gruppo si muove compatto e coeso, stupendamente coordinato dal leader, ma una menzione particolare spetta al pianista
