Tra fitte destrutturazioni tematiche e sontuose sostituzioni armoniche, il pianista statunitense incanta per il modo in cui sa trarre riposte sfumature dai brani interpretati. Nel caso degli standard boppistici, emerge una fitta rete di relazioni armoniche tra i prodromi lessicali dello swing e le matrici parkeriana e gillespiana.

Lungi dal risolversi in una riproposizione dell'estetica di Tristano, il concerto propone un ricco zibaldone musicale dal quale Mosca fa emergere le doti di arguto improvvisatore. Nel modo confidenziale con cui ripropone le ballad, Mosca trova un mondo particolarmente congeniale al suo sentire umano ed artistico, dal qualse emergono note ricche di aura chiaroscurale, dalla poesia sottile e malinconica.

Mosca guarda alla lezione del maestro e alla quadratura imprevedibile della frase pianistica. Al tempo stesso si impone un andamento sinuosamente rilassato e melodico condotto con elegante discrezione. I vertici del doppio CD si ritrovano soprattutto nelle relazioni tematiche incastonate all'interno dei lunghi medley, in costante dialettica tra rigore e libert��. Vi riluce un'inesauribile vena melodica, che disegna con souplesse fraseggi di rarefatta bellezza.

Sembra tutto facile, ma dietro la perfezione olimpica si celano classe e fantasia all'ennesima potenza.
